Abstract
New technologies have enabled the use of innovative materials which, combined with digital fabrication, contribute to the development of new architectural solutions.
Through visual scripting applied to building façade design, responsive architectural elements emerge, creating new levels of interaction with the human occupants of these spaces. This research proposes the development of a responsive envelope prototype that is replicable and adaptable to various architectural applications. This prototype could respond to climatic factors or other stimuli, as it incorporates movable elements that can be programmed for these purposes while also serving as an aesthetic component.
Developing a functional responsive envelope prototype involves multiple disciplines. Architecture serves as the foundation for the design, while programming is integrated to automate the envelope's responsiveness. Additionally, digital fabrication plays a crucial role in defining the materiality and manufacturing process of the system.
