Abstract
Peasant communities have been observing their territories and managing their biodiversity since immemorial times; but with the successive advances in science and technology, their knowledge is marginalized by an academic knowledge held in modernity. The destruction of innumerable cultural traditions does not benefit the environment, nor does it compromise the dialogues between academia, development agencies and local climate observers.
