Vol 72, No 2 (2026): Ethics and regulation of artificial intelligence
Issue Description
In issue 72.2 of our journal, we explored the role of Artificial Intelligence in education and research. In issue 72.1, we examined other emerging technologies and their impact on higher education. Across articles authored by scholars from diverse backgrounds, concerns have consistently emerged regarding the ethical implications and potential limits of applying these advances—advances that are unavoidable, indispensable to the progress of humanity, and emblematic of the extraordinary innovations of our time.
We consider it essential to contribute to the ongoing discussion surrounding these concerns. At the same time, we believe that, having moved beyond the initial stage of surprise, our actions should be guided not by fear but by foresight, ensuring that a process capable of significantly benefiting humanity does not lose its course. Every innovation inherently carries the promise of progress; however, there will always be those who seek to exploit it at the expense of the common good. This is the risk we must address by understanding and establishing regulatory frameworks for responsible conduct, as well as ethical principles that clearly distinguish beneficial applications from harmful ones.
The scientific community, and particularly scholars in the humanities, must promptly embrace the responsibility of defining and supporting efforts to establish this critical ethical boundary.
This issue invites contributions grounded in experience and rigorous research that help channel knowledge as an unstoppable force for progress, while preventing excesses and harmful actions against the interests of humanity. As we have previously emphasized, the future of education will depend, first and foremost, on our own capacity. Conducting research and educating in the age of Artificial Intelligence is both a responsibility and an obligation, one that necessarily entails significant ethical challenges.
For these reasons, and in accordance with the values we uphold, AULA: Journal of Humanities and Social Sciencesinvites researchers and scholars from around the world to submit original research articles on this topic, with an approach that places the ethical dimensions of Artificial Intelligence at the center of scholarly inquiry and recognizes them as a fundamental instrument for human development.
Please note that AULA: Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences publishes manuscripts in accordance with the APA Style guidelines.
