Abstract
The challenge of living in community has never been greater, after the resurgence of a global viral contagion. The task to improve socialization, for some a moral obligation, has never been more important for the aging sector, which is growing in practically every society in the world. It is necessary to explore the difficulties and barriers to create community, even with the expansion in digital technology. There are some models based on community integration of elderly patients with and without dementia, for example: dementia-friendly communities, and intergenerational play schools. In these and other non-pharmacological intervention models, we seek solutions dedicated to preventing and combating mental health problems, feelings of loneliness and feelings of isolation, as they experience life transitions. Social engagement can improve the quality of life, both for patients living with dementia and for young people who lack safe contact in the community.
