Abstract

The cultural, social and political history of a place draws the evolution of the territories, the development of the communities and the transformations of the landscape. But behind these stories are hidden the journeys of many people who for various reasons have had to abandon their homes, their cities to reach far away lands. These are testimonies of abandonment, of ruins, of lacerated communities forced to continue to write their history elsewhere.
In a world of great revolution these are important reflections which must reflect both the policy and the architecture in order to seek solutions for the wellbeing and development of the communities. This paper intends to analyze an Italian situation that in recent decades has strongly transformed the local economies, the life of the communities and the history of the territories and to propose some reflections on possible management plans for people affected by abandonment.
