Abstract
Gagá constitutes a complex system of socio-religious relationships in the Dominican Republic, where percussion, dance, singing, beliefs, and rituals converge as a direct result of the cultural exchange between Haitian and Dominican communities. This article seeks to emphasize the distinct vocal techniques present in Dominican Gagá. The study was conducted through interpretative and technical analysis of traditional Gagá songs, along with a comparative examination of how these vocal resources were adapted in the composition "Oxumaré," a Gagá piece written by the artist and composer Xiomara Fortuna.
